Halawa Division Champions Crowned

The semis for the Halawa Division was great. The Final was even better (Missed baskets, missed free throws and a timely tip). What a night cap!

To start the evening, a terrific game between #1 Amusement Park and #4 Aloha City was close throughout but Amusement Park closed it out in the end. In the second semifinal, #3 Ronin and #7 Lokoporn went back and forth until Ronin made a late run to he seal the deal.

In the nightcap, Amusement Park jumped out to an early lead, in a low scoring first half, leading at 24-9 at the break. Amusement Park continued to hold onto that lead but a determined Ronin squad chipped away at the lead and made a late run. Down two with seconds remaining, a strong drive capped the comeback to end the 2nd half tied and forcing overtime. In overtime, Ronin and Amusement traded baskets. Amusement went up 2 with less than a minute left. Another three from Ronin put them up ahead for good. But the play of the game occurred at the end of overtime. With seconds left, Amusement was forced to foul creating a one-and-one free-throw situation. Ronin hit the first. Now up two, missed the 2nd. The play of the game was a simple tip out on the missed free throw that allowed Ronin to gather the rebound, securing the W. Final score...42-40. Ronin wins!
